Retired Life

Created by Jill 4 years ago

After retiring from paid employment Trevor quickly became involved with local politics, first on the parish council, then as a councillor with Wandsdyke Council, later to become Bath and North East Somerset (BANES). He was chairman of the BANES conservative party and chairman of the finance committee for Wansdyke and then BANES. Other roles included chairman of governors of the local school, and service on the board of the Bristol regional health authority. He retired from voluntary work in 2001, when Sheila’s health deteriorated and she needed more full time care. He was made an Honorary Alderman of BANES in 2012 in recognition of services to the council.

In 2008 Trevor and Sheila moved from their house in Farmborough to a sheltered flat in Keynsham as Sheila’s mobility decreased. This was also close to their daughter Cherry and her family.

Sheila died in 2011 and sadly Cherry and her husband died in 2015. Trevor moved to Cepen Lodge Care home, Chippenham, in March 2016 to be closer to his daughter Jill and family. He moved to Mavern House Nursing Home, Shaw, Melksham in
January 2020 as his care needs became more difficult. He died here on 17th April 2020.
